Abeokuta South LGA has its headquarters located at Ake Abeokuta[1]. It has an area of 71 square kilometers and is situated in Ogun Central Senatorial District, Ogun State, Nigeria. Created in September 1991[2] under General Ibrahim Babangida's administration, it has a population of 250,278 (2006 census)[3], projected to reach 425,700 in 2022[4]. The LGA’s population density is approximately 5,995[5] People per square kilometer. Known for its vibrant cottage industries, including blacksmithing, Abeokuta South attracts tourism.
