Abeokuta North LGA, Ogun State

Abeokuta North LGA, with headquarters in the town of Akomoje[1]. Abeokuta is a prominent local government within Ogun Central Senatorial District in Ogun State.[2], Nigeria. Established in 1981 as part of the former Abeokuta South LGA, it spans an area of 808 square kilometers with a population of about 198,793 (2006 census)[3]. It is projected to reach 338,100 by 2022, resulting in a population density of 430 people per square kilometer.

The LGA is known for its agricultural economy, primarily cultivating rice and yams, while the presence of the Oyan Dam provides a major water source for both Lagos and Abeokuta. Abeokuta North also hosts the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB)[4], an important educational institution. The LGA comprises 6 political wards, with approximate geo-coordinates at 7.2114° N latitude and 3.1378° E longitude.[5].
