Kano Municipal, headquartered in Kofar Kudu within Kano City's center, is a prominent area in the Kano Central Senatorial District. Established in 1967, it is one of the state's oldest and most urbanized Local Government Areas (LGAs). The population, recorded at 371,243 in the 2006 census, is estimated to have grown to 610,600 by 2022. Despite covering a relatively small land area of approximately 14.90 square kilometers, Kano Municipal is densely populated due to its urban nature, boasting one of the highest population densities in Nigeria at 40,966 inhabitants per square kilometer.Economically, the LGA functions as Kano's commercial and cultural hub, featuring bustling markets, diverse commercial enterprises, and historical landmarks such as the Gidan Makama Museum and the Emir's Palace.
